Feasibility Study, Business Plan and Technical Assessment

In 2018/19, CES assisted Chapleau Cree First Nation in completing a Feasibility Study, Business Plan and Technical Assessment for the development of a community-based Cultural Ecolodge and Chalets. By using a multi-faceted business approach including a diversity of programs, activities and accommodations, the sustainability of this new venture can be ensured for years to come.

The new Cultural Ecolodge will be a place for community members to gather and engage in traditional activities; a place where Elders can pass along their wisdom to youth, helping to ensure that the rich culture is retained through future generations. Community-centred programs will give priority to the people of CCFN, but the Ecolodge will also welcome others who wish to participate and benefit, taking their new found knowledge home to strengthen their own communities.

This project involved a full stakeholder/community engagement process to guide the recommended building design, programming and operations of the Ecolodge.
