Indigenous Tourism Ontario

Ontario's Indigenous Tourism Landscape Foundation Research Study

Foundational Research Project

CES was contracted to assist Indigenous Tourism Ontario (ITO) in conducting foundational research to better understand the current Indigenous tourism landscape in Ontario. The project included an environmental scan, asset inventory, jurisdictional scan and gaps analysis.

The main component of this project however, was a province-wide engagement strategy that allowed Indigenous tourism businesses, organizations, communities and partners to provide their opinions on the opportunities, challenges and solutions for growing Indigenous tourism in Ontario.

The research project allowed ITO to move forward strategically by supporting Indigenous tourism stakeholders and Indigenous communities in identifying opportunities to better align their tourism and cultural assets with economic opportunities.

The project’s findings and recommendations were detailed within a client-focused based report; it is the most comprehensive report yet for the organization and was designed as a living document which permits updates.
