Six Nations of the Grand River AR/VR

Taking Indigenous tourism experiences to a whole new immersive level at Six Nations Chiefswood Park

opportunity

Using technology to help conserve the environment and preserve cultural heritage through tourism. Implementing Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) to create an immersive storytelling experience that entertains and educates visitors about the local culture and traditions.

what we did

CES was hired by the Six Nations of the Grand River to develop a unique and original technology integration using AR/VR at Six Nations Chiefswood Park.

challenges

Creating innovative Indigenous tourism experiences that are meaningful while maintaining authenticity and adapting to the current needs and desires of visitors.

results

In collaboration with ZenFri and Six Nations, CES co-developed a world-class Indigenous AR/VR tourism experience. The AR experience entails inviting visitors to immerse themselves in an interactive tour through Chiefswood Park, featuring 10 stops along their journey. At each stop there is an opportunity for visitors to interact with the environment and dive deeper through immersive learning which shares Six Nations’ stories, culture, and traditions while they connect with the land. The VR experience is narrated by a member of Six Nations, and guests can dive into the story using their VR headset with hand controls, interacting with the 3 sisters - corn, beans, and squash - to plant, nurture, and harvest the crops; then make 3 Sisters soup to share in their virtual world.
