Enoch Cree Nation

Enoch Cree Nation Best Practices Mission

Leading Enoch Cree Nation on an inspiring journey to grow their tourism vision

opportunity

CES provided Enoch Cree Nation members with a unique cultural tourism experience and the opportunity to connect with other Indigenous tourism leaders, for first-hand knowledge and insights on best practices to bring back home, for their cultural tourism development within their Nation.

what we did

CES curated a Best Practices Mission catered specifically to attend the needs of Enoch Cree Nation, with emphasis on cultural interpretive centres and grassroots tourism experiences. Enoch members took part in an exciting journey, visiting several Indigenous tourism operators throughout British Columbia, sharing in diverse tourism services and products, from restaurants, hotels, and small heritage villages to renowned cultural centres.

challenges

Creating an enjoyable and enriching learning experience for participants and preserving the safety of everyone while travelling during the pandemic.

results

The Best Practices Mission entailed onsite workshops facilitated by owners, operators, and employees who shared challenges, successes, and various insights on different aspects of their business. Enoch was able to see both from the guest and from the operator's viewpoint - connecting, exchanging ideas, and taking valuable lessons back to their community. This experience impacted participants on a personal level and will be extremely valuable to support the development of a cultural centre and cultural tourism in Enoch Cree Nation.
