Supporting the growth of the Indigenous tourism sector in the province of Alberta

what we did

CES worked together with Indigenous Services Canada’s Special Project Initiative (SPI) to deliver pilot projects with two exemplary Indigenous tourism organizations, aiming to achieve new market-ready products in Alberta’s Indigenous tourism sector. CES was guided by our clients, bringing their vision to fruition resulting in a Go-Forward Strategy outlining key objectives for moving forward.

challenges

The Indigenous tourism industry in Alberta has encountered an absence of funding and resources to turn their tourism ideas into reality.

results

Phases 1 and 2 of this project included a visioning process with Enoch Cree Nation and Kikino Silver Birch Resort to establish goals, product development opportunities, and an implementation plan. CES met with community leaders, local entrepreneurs, and other key stakeholders to conduct strategic planning - establishing a great relationship with both clients, and ensuring the project was built upon collaboration, mutual trust, and respect. The project is now in Phase 3 but has already fruited ground-breaking improvements for the Kikino and Enoch communities, reflecting CES’s collaboration and our clients’ hard work and dedication.
